This Fund has been created from the generous donations given by Dr. Ramachandra N. Moorthy to NIMHANS for academic activities in the field of Mental Health.
The funds will be utilized for activities based on Dr. Ramachandra N Moorthyâ€™s mottos:
1. Promotion ofÂ mental health
2.Â Prevention of mental illness,Â as well as,Â treatment and rehabilitationÂ of people withÂ psychiatric disorder.
3. Supporting any kind ofÂ innovation in neurology and psychiatry that fosters mental health
4.Â Encouraging progress inÂ medicine in generalÂ and allied fieldsÂ thatÂ would improve the general mental health and well-beingÂ of the public.
The Training/Academic activities which can be conducted under this Fund can be – Continuing Medical Education, Symposia, Seminars, Lectures, Workshops, Training programmes â€“ short term and long term, Scholarships to trainees, Visiting fellowships, Setting up of Chair, Educational research and any similar activities which the Committee may suggests or approves. The fund should not be ordinarily used for attending conferences and meetings.
Eligibility: Faculty member from NIMHANS who is interested in conducting an academic activity, meeting the above objectives can avail of this fund.
Guidelines on application/request for fund under this Foundation:
Proposals on prescribed Application forms (Electronic and one hard copy) should be submitted minimum three months prior to the proposed meeting. Applications should be brief, and contain the aims of the activity and a general assessment of its value; learning objectives of the programme; approximate number of participants; description of the activity; expected outcome; and funds needed with brief justification. A report should be submitted within a month of the completion of the activity, and the accounts settled as per NIMHANS rules.
The applications will be reviewed by the Dr. Ramachandra N Moorthy Foundation Committee. The committee will meet periodically to approve the proposals and activities, and supervise the utilization of the fund.
The activities conducted through this fund should always acknowledge and credit Dr. Ramachandra N. Moorthy, [and whenever possible the activity can be so called as for example Dr. Ramachandra N. Moorthy Training Programme â€¦. etc]
